Greatest Person of the Month: Ronnie Drio McClure
Hannah Sue Kim writes about her dear husband.
Our first Greatest Person of the Month is a giver, nominated by his wife.
Ronnie Drio McClure is called out not for a singular achievement, but for his daily attitude to be considerate and helpful. Hannah Sue Kim enumerated Ronnie's qualifications for the honor.
I guess our giving back to the community is a "family" thing... but my husband goes above and beyond for others in his daily walk.
1) We are active participants in the City of Pinole, Community Service Day. He and I both hauled tires out of the Bay, in the rain! (It was actually fun...)
2) For Christmas, we hand out $20-filled Christmas cards (Holiday Cheer, I call it) to the homeless and needy in our community. Last year we handed out 10 cards to folks in the area and sent another 10 cards to the Philippines, for the homeless and needy there.
3) He is a loving husband and a patient, dedicated father to our toddler son.
Beyond that, he is just simply a giver. One example: We were on I-80 driving toward the Pinole area from Emeryville when we noticed a motorcyclist get hit by a car. My husband stopped (the traffic was slow that day) the car and got out to help the gentleman up from the ground. Luckily, he didn't get hit by any on-coming vehicles! The gentleman who got hit by the car was maybe in his late 50s, and he was very appreciative. The motorcyclist was shook up, but okay. We found the license plate of the car on the ground and the motorcyclist took it with him. My husband didn't hesitate to help the person. This, in my eyes, is true hero mentality.
